PAT Testing

PAT testing for London offices & HMOs.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) checks the safety of portable electrical appliances: kettles, lamps, IT equipment, so your workplace or HMO meets current safety standards. Carried out by the same team that handles your EICR.

Why it matters

Is PAT testing a legal requirement?

No. Unlike an EICR, PAT testing isn't a fixed legal requirement. But health and safety law still requires you to keep appliances safe, and PAT testing is the standard way to prove you have.

It's a different job to an EICR: PAT checks portable appliances, while an EICR assesses the fixed wiring system: consumer unit, circuit protection, hard-wired installations. We recommend PAT testing annually for commercial properties and HMOs.

Who it's for

HMO operators, offices, retail and hospitality businesses, and any landlord responsible for appliances provided to tenants.
